In today's Speaking and Listening class (Tuesday, 6/13/06) the students brought in lists of words and phrases that they had heard over the past week and wanted to learn and practice so they could incorporate them into their own English conversaton. Of the many words they brought in, we selected 10 that they thought would be the most useful, and most fun, to practice and use.
The phrases they chose:
It beats me, Call it a day, It adds up (or It does not add up), It sucks, and smart ass.
The verbs they chose:
to get away with something, and to confide in someone.
They also picked one adjective: terrific.
Each student recorded the pronunciation, definition and an example sentence for one of these phrases. You can listen to all these words and learn the ways to use them in the following mp3 recording: Download cool_words_week_2.mp3
